I Heart Tutorials

Here is another variation of the layout that I shared with you yesterday. Is it bad when I rather design a new card than clean up my scrap area to find the embosslit heart that I need to complete the cards that I already prepped? Well that's what I did for this card. Remember this card here? Well I have all the peices cut and assembled to make 6 of these for a swap, all I have left to do is cut out the three embosslit hearts and I can't find my embosslit heart. If you saw my desk, you'd understand why. Well, I really wasn't feeling like cleaning so I decided to create a new card instead, using the punched heart from the other card.  This card uses Sweet Pea DSP, Taken with Teal (2" x 2", 5.5" x 8.5" folded in half, 3.75" x 0.75), Pumpkin Pie (2.25" x 2.25"), Whisper White (2.5" x 2.5", 4" x 5.25", scrap for heart).

Now, as promised, here are the steps I took to cut the DSP for this layout. I gave the measurements yesterday, but I will repeat here again. The trickest part is making sure the triangles lay in the right directions when cutting and what sides you want up. I went through several pieces of paper before I got it right.

1. Cut two different designs of DSP into 3.75" x 4" rectangles, one will be the upper right hand triangle and the other will be the lower left hand triangle.
2. Now, place the rectangle in the cutter as shown here. Be sure to have the side you want shown up and the longer edge vertical. Place the upper left hand corner on the inch marker and the lower right hand corner on the cut line. This will result in 4 different pieces, but you will only use 2 of them, one of each of design.

3. Now take the triangle that will be in the upper right hand corner and turn it over. You will then cut the small triangle from this. Once you have the back side up, line the paper up as shown below. You will be cutting off an inch from the 4" side of the triangle.

4. Now to cut the small triangle, cut a rectangle 1" x 1.5". Then place this in the cutter as shown below and cut in half. If you are using double sided paper and place it as shown, you will want the front side up.

5. Now you have all the pieces cut and can adhere them to the 3.75" x 5.25" peice of cardstock and finish off the bottom strip as desired.

Heart Punch Card Revisted

My posts just keep getting later and later, don't they? Sorry, maybe I'll have to try to type them up the night before. Anyways, as I mentioned yesterday, I was an angel for a swap that I was participating in and here is another card that I did. You may recognize this design from another card I did for a punch swap. I didn't have enough of the DSP I used last time, so I switched it up and that in turn required me to switch up the colors too. I also add more bling to met the swap requirements. Hope you enjoy!

Paper: Sweet Pea DSP (3" x 3"), Rose Red (3.25" x 3.25"), Whisper White (3.5" x 5"), Old Olive (5.5" x 11" folded in half), scraps of Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, So Saffron, Rose Red, and Whisper White for the punches
Stamp Sets: I {Heart} Hearts, Well Scripted
Ink: Old Olive (sentiment), Rose Red (small heart)
Accessories: 3/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, 1.25" circle punch (Rose Red under jumbo grommet), small heart punch, Whisper White jumbo grommet, and Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon

The LNS challenge this week is Valentines, so this can be used for that too.

With All My Heart

Sorry this is kind of late again. I haven't not had a very good morning. I didn't wake up and get to work until like 10 AM. I was up late last night working on some angel swap cards. I got word yesterday morning that at least 2 swaps were missing from a swap I'm participating in and I like to try to help people out and make sure their swaps are full. So off to work I went. Here is one of the cards that I designed and made 12 of in an hour and a half. Again, I had every intent of casing something, but again this does not look like what I had in mind or the card I was casing. Is this a sign of my ADD coming out? Anyways, I used With All My Heart stamp set from the occassions mini. The colors are Taken with Teal, So Saffron, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, and Pumpkin Pie. I also used the Sweet Pea DSP, SAB edge punch, Boho Blossoms punch, Pumpkin Circle Rhinestone, and Chocolate Chip Taffeta ribbon.

I am going to try something new with my blog and include everything (I hope) you need to know to recreate the cards that I share with you. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The dimensions are as follows (in inches):
DSP:  3.75 x 4
Whisper White: Background is 4 x 5.25; Stamped image piece: 2.25 x 2.25
Pumpkin Pie: 2.5 x 2.5
So Saffron: 2.75 x 3.5; Scrap for punched flower
Chocolate Chip: 5.5 x 11, folded in half

Directions:
1. Cut the the cardstock as indicated above.
2. Using the edge punch, punch the bottom edge of the DSP. Do the same with the So Saffron.
3. Adhere the DSP to the Whisper White.
4. Using the DSP as a guide, stamp the "Friend" image on the Whisper White cardstock in Taken with Teal ink.
5. Stamp the flower image on the smaller piece of Whisper White in Pumpkin Pie ink.
6. Using the scrap of punch the meduim sized flower in the Boho Blossoms punch.
7. Adhere flower to the center of the stamped image and insert the brad through the center.
8. Mat the stamped image with the Pumpkin Pie cardstock and then the So Saffron cardstock.
9. Cut a peice of the taffeta ribbon long enough to wrap arount the So Saffron cardstock and tie a bow or knot, as desired. Attach to cardstock.
10. Attached the stamped image and layers to the Whisper White background.
11. Attached the Whisper White to the folded Chocolate cardstock.
12. ENJOY!

Well Scripted Sample

Sorry I'm late getting this post on. I'm really trying to keep my blog up to date and today is the first day that I've slacked. And I don't have a card to share with you that I'm real proud of. It's a case, but I don't really like the changes I made. I'm still showing it because I like how the border punch was used (or really not used) to make the break and allow room for the ribbon to be wrapped around. I used Well Scripted, Abduntant Hope, and Tiny Tags. I also used the Sweet Pea DSP and the colors were Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, and Chocolate Chip.

Another Vintage Vogue

So when I first saw this set, I wasn't sold on it. But when Stampin' Up said that it would be around for the next catalog too, I decided to buy. And now, I can't seem to put it down! I hope you're not sick of it yet. Anyways, this card I created using an older Stampin' 411 sketch that can be found here, along with others' interpretation of the sketch. Again, it was for a WOW swap and other than Vintage Vogue, I used the Sweet Pea DSP, new satin ribbon, and new SAB punch. Colors are Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Rose Red, and Whisper White.

Sneak Peak

Today I'm sharing with you a card that I made for a swap and the thought process that went behind its creation. I blurf (blog surf) on a daily basis and save the samples that I like and want to CASE. I do not always save who originally created them, so if you see something that you originally created, feel free to leave a comment and a link back to your original work. I by no means mean to take credit for something that I did not create.

Anyways, the story of the following card. First, the sample that I found and planned to CASE is as follows.

I knew that I wanted to make a standard 4.25 x 5.5 card instead of the square, I did not have the saying and planned to substitute maybe something from Define Your Life, and finally I knew that I was going to be mass producing this card for a swap and did not have enough of the DSP used (especially the butterfly one) for the 12 cards. First, I picked the DSP that I was going to use. I wanted to use the Sweet Pea paper and colors that went together. From there I picked the colors of my cardstock to be used. Finally, I went to my Defining Life stamp set to find the perfect definition. And the creating began. Here is what I finally ended up with. It does not look at all like what I originally planned and I worried that it was too busy, what do you think?

Finally, since I used brads, it qualifies for the LNS challenge too.

Another LNS Challenge

Here is another card that I made that uses brads. You may recognize the layout from the New Year's card that I posted on New Year's Day. It's the same concept (CASED, of course), but this time I used paper from the new Occassions mini, Sweet Pea DSP. I also used a stamp set from the new Occassions mini, With All My Heart. Colors are Rose Red, Cameo Coral, and Whisper White.
